The August 7th wildfires in Maui are a tragic loss for so many, including our dear sister Monica Chihara, her husband Walter, and their four kids and grandchildren. When the fires swept through Lahaina, the Chiharas fled, some on foot with only the clothes they wore and a few belongings. While we are so relieved they escaped and are now safe, the family faces the dreadful reality of picking up the pieces in the aftermath. The extended family, their friends, and neighbors are in immediate need of basic supplies, vehicles, computers, clothing and income. The funds raised will be disbursed to our sister’s family. Monica and Walter and family have generously hosted many friends and family from all over the world on their visits to Maui. They are deeply connected to their community and have fostered kids in need as well as volunteering to help the elderly or anyone in need, never expecting a thing in return.
