Our sweet mother, Louise Palmer, lost all of her belongings and her lifetime’s work of art and writing, in the Lahaina Fire this week. She also lost her home, the place she’d planned to stay in for the rest of her life, and the town she fell so deeply in love with. Our mama has had to start over too many times, and we’re gutted that she’s here again. Most importantly, she’s safe: she was visiting her daughter in Washington, helping out with her two grandchildren, when the fire happened, so we’re grateful she wasn’t subjected to the trauma of escaping the fire or worse. We’ve started this Go Fund Me to help her in the interim before insurance kicks in, and to assist with the many many costs that insurance inevitably will not cover. All of her savings were tied up in the apartment, and everything she owned outside of the suitcase she brought here. We’ll deliver the money directly to her account, and be assisting her in navigating the roads of insurance and what the next steps are.
