I am born and raised in Lahaina. My ohana has owned our surf school for 25 years in Lahaina. We operate out of 505 Front Street where my grandma was raised. My grandma is a Shaw/Ka’ae hence the name of the street Shaw Street. My great grandma Alice Shaw/Ka’ae had a monument and buriel ground at Waiola church. As you know all of that was burnt. We also have 15 employees half of which lost everything they own. All of our employees now have to try and get help from donations and other resources. We are heartbroken and devastated that we can’t even help them. We don’t have fire insurance so we are left with nothing. It is really hard to ask for help when so many others need it desperately as well but with no fire insurance we are looking at becoming homeless and hungry with. no solution in sight. Any help is so greatly appreciated.
