As you may know, the natural disaster that has hit Maui has affected many people on the island, including two of my best friends – newly engaged Casey and Anis. When the fires broke out, they were on the opposite sides of the island with merely their beloved dog Kiko and none of their possessions. Their cat Pebbles remained at home during the day as no one could have anticipated the destruction that was about to occur. They were later told the fire spread into their neighborhood and after the roads opened returned home to find nothing but debris and ash. Pebbles has yet to be found, but they remain hopeful that he was able to escape and is hiding somewhere safe.
