Lani, and her mom, our beloved Aunty Noni. They live in Lahaina and by a miracle, have survived the devastating fire that destroyed their community. From what I understand so far, they tried to get out in their vehicle but couldn’t because the roads were impassable.
They had to make the unimaginable decision to abandon the vehicle and head for the water. With help, they were able to get Aunty, who uses a wheelchair/walker, up and over the wall, across the rocks, and into the water. These two strong whine spent somewhere around 7 hours in the water before being rescued. I don’t have all the details but I do know they have lost everything, including their vehicle, their home, and Lani’s entire business @paiki_hawaii.
