My name is Kayla Tihada, I was born and raised in Lahaina. I am a mom of 2 keiki that attend Kula Kaiapuni o Lahaina and I currently work as a Registered Nurse at a clinic in Lahiana and a Hula Dancer at the Old Lahaina Luau. There’s a saying here in Lahaina that it takes a village to raise a child. Growing up in Lahaina I realize there is definitely no other community tighter then ours. Until you lived in it no one can ever understand the amount of love and support the community has for each other.
My Dad and uncles are very active in coaching Napili Canoe Club and the Lahainaluna High School football team. They’ve always been genuinely involved in taking care of the community and giving back whenever possible, from helping with 1st Birthday Luaus to scattering of loved ones ashes.
My Dad has always taught me to respect your kupuna, cause they hold so much knowledge and to malama our keiki, cause they are the ones to carry on the future.
