She lost everything in the Lahaina fire. After not having internet and phone service all day they did not know the severity of the situation until the gas station across the street from their house exploded. She was able to grab her phone and wallet but left with only the clothes on her back. They were able to escape by car to the bypass but when the fires got too close they were told to leave by police. Unfortunately the car wouldn’t start and they were forced to run by foot from the thick black clouds and crazy winds. Thankfully a stranger picked her up and drove her to Wailuku where she is staying with a friend. I know there are so many resources and amazing people donating clothes and food but my mom is in America with a green card and it is critical that she get a new passport. So the money donated will be used for basic necessities as well as making sure she is able to get a new passport.
